Bubble Bobble - Secret Rooms

Bubble Bobble has 3 secret rooms, as well as a secret level warp. These are accessed on levels 20, 30, 40 and 50 - although for these secrets to be activated the player must reach these levels with one player having played from the start of the game without losing a life..

Reach level 20, 30 or 40 without losing a life and a secret door will appear.

If that level is skipped, by collecting a umbrella on the previous level for example, the doorway will appear on the next played level.

As well as 36 diamonds, each secret room contain a message in a special symbol font. When you complete the game on normal mode the way to decipher the code is explained.

This is the key to the code - there's 26 characters - each one represents a letter in the alphabet - V is A, 8 is B etc.

Using this it is possible to decipher all secret symbol messages in the game.

Level 20 Secret Room

Message reads "If you want to become the old figure, use the power of your friendship, and fight with me!"

What does this message mean? The statue of Super Drunk gives away the true meaning of this message. It means that if our heroes want to regain their old human (old as in previous rather than aged) form they must fight Super Drunk.

Level 30 Secret Room

Message reads "I enclose these magical medicine here, because those are my worst fears...."

What does this message mean? Again the statue of the lightning vase as seen on the last level is the clue. Its an indication that the lightning vase (aka magical medicine) is the only way of defeating Super Drunk.

Level 40 Secret Room

Message reads "If you want to get back your love of truth you must help each other until the last...."

What does this message mean? Perhaps the most simple message, it hints that the only way to reach the games full ending (or true ending) is to complete the game in 2 player.

Level 50 - 20 Level Warp

The level 50 secret doesn't take the form of a secret room, but instead is a 20 level warp. The doorway is different to the other secret room doorways...

Simply go through the doorway to be warped to level 70. The player will be warped to level 70 regardless of if the player activates it on a later level by skipping level 50 - so its perhaps inaccurate to refer to this secret as a 20 level warp, more accurately its a warp to level 70.

Rascal

If the player takes too long to complete a secret room Rascal appears to hurry the player on. He is the secret room version of Skel-Monsta, and has the exact same behavior.

If the player loses their final life in a secret room the maximum reached round on the high score table will be set to Round 102 for the level 20 secret room, Round 103 for the level 30 room and Round 104 for the level 40 room.

In addition when the next new game is started the player will be teleported from level 1 to the secret room that the player died on - a great opportunity to grab some extra points!
